Idea. Concept. Solution.

The idea for the AKTIVLINE arose from the practical experience that rigid seating systems do not provide optimal care for all patients. Especially children and adults with involuntary stretching movements often have problems with their supply. While the body has the urge to perform a movement, the fitting is designed to try to fix the patient in the prescribed position. This is different with the AKTIVLINE.

Disadvantages of rigid supply systems

Rigid restorations prevent the patient from moving. Its energy acts directly on the material of the supply due to the fixation. This can lead to tension, pressure points and abrasions for the patient. In addition, bent or broken seat shells and other damage to seating systems are common consequences. If the fixation of a rigid restoration is loosened, the patient slips and must be repeatedly brought into the orthopedically correct position.

Provide controlled freedom of movement

For the first time, the dynamic AKTIVLINE seating system combines an orthopedically optimal seating position with guided freedom of movement. This prevents the problems mentioned above. In addition, alternating between different postures can have a positive effect on breathing, circulation and digestion, as well as the mobility of the body’s joints.

Patients confirm the following benefits, among others:

Less tension, pain and skin injuries

No slipping out of the fitting due to movement

Preservation of mobility

Improvement of respiration, circulation and digestion

Extension of active sitting time and better posture

Tactile perceptual information remains constant

Reduced repair and conversion times and costs

Function. Implementation. Technique.

AKTIVLINE restorations combine optimal positioning and maximum freedom of movement. To do this, they use the physiological pivot points at the pelvis and knees and guide the movement exactly along the desired path. The seat and back unit are supported by slide rails and allow the hip angle to be opened according to the patient’s movements. Knee angle and footboard unit simultaneously allow the dynamic extension tendency of the patient. Movements in the pelvis and knees can occur independently.

Support movement in a targeted manner

After movement, gravity and spring systems in the seat and leg system automatically return the patient to the physiological starting position. By granting the natural urge and flow of movement, the mobile parts of the body can be kept mobile. Another advantage is that the position of the head and shoulder girdle in space change only minimally during maximum movement of the shell. Vestibular and visual perception remain constant, and activities such as watching, drinking, or operating a joystick are not disrupted.

Simply better positioning

In the relaxed state, the seat angle, knee angle and foot angle are usually 90°. The anatomically individual upholstery of the seat shell takes the patient’s physiology into account. The seating system and base are robustly designed, adaptable to patient needs and easy to operate. They can be optimally adjusted to the needs of the patient and the person accompanying him.

Indication. Studies. Himi.

The indications for dynamic AKTIVLINE fittings are infantile cerebral palsy (spastic tetraplegia, dyskinetic tetraplegia, tetraplegia with dystonic spasms, athetosis and chorea athetosis) and cerebral movement disorders. Patient sitting and ability to make directed movements of the head and upper extremities are severely limited due to subsequent patterns:

Indication framework of neuromuscular disorders

Spasms in extension

Stretch reactions

Pathological movement patterns in global extension

Emprosthotonus and Opisthotonus

Startle reaction / Startle reaction

Synkinetic stretching movements of the trunk, upper and lower extremities.

Dystonic spasms

Asymmetrical and symmetrical

Possible complaints due to rigid restorations

Hip dislocation and painful hip

Muscle shortening and contractures

Reduction of joint mobility

Secondary damage due to immobility

Pressure sores (decubitus)

Infantile cerebral palsy (ICP) and movement

Movement disorders as a result of spastic paralysis (infantile cerebral palsy) can have different manifestations. On the one hand, different parts of the body may be affected (hemiparesis, diparesis, tetraparesis). On the other hand, movements themselves may also be deficient (a- and hypokinetic) or off-target (dyskinetic).

Perception always plays an important role in the organization of movements. However, patients with tetraplegia are often unable to control their posture and are also easily startled. If hyperextension of the head, trunk and hip occurs on the one hand and hip movement is tolerated to some extent on the other, an AKTIVLINE fitting can be attempted. This also applies to patients who cannot sit for long periods of time due to a painful hip. In the case of dyskinetic movement disorders, the AKTIVLlNE currently offers the only alternative to classic, rigid fittings.

Now. Simple. Test sitting.

The best possible care is one of the most important foundations for a good quality of life. We therefore want as many people as possible with the appropriate indication to have access to AKTIVLINE systems and offer the opportunity to try them out. Here, patients can test whether an AKTIVLINE product offers them the desired benefits.

FAQ

Selecting the right seat fitting is a complex task that should be approached in close consultation with physicians, therapists and orthopedic technicians. In particular, the type of restriction and the degree of activity must be taken into account.

The dynamic AKTIVLINE seat fitting is the only fitting that combines an orthopedically optimal sitting position with guided freedom of movement. For this purpose, the AKTIVLINE system uses the physiological pivot points at the pelvis and knees and guides the patient’s stretching movement exactly along the desired path. The seat and back unit are supported by slide rails and allow the hip angle to be opened according to the patient’s movements. Knee angle and footboard unit simultaneously allow the dynamic extension tendency of the patient. Movements in the pelvis and knees can occur independently.

This dynamic seating can help prevent problems such as patient tension, pressure sores and abrasions, as well as damage to seating systems that often occurs with rigid restorations. In addition, alternating between different postures can have a positive effect on breathing, circulation and digestion, as well as the mobility of the body’s joints.

Aktivline fittings are specifically designed for patients with involuntary reaching movements, such as those associated with infantile cerebral palsy and cerebral movement disorders. They enable an orthopedically optimal sitting position while allowing involuntary stretching movements.

AKTIVLINE restorations are particularly suitable for patients with

Spasms in extension
Stretch reactions
Pathological movement patterns in global extension
Emprosthotonus and Opisthotonus
Startle response
Startle reactions
Synkinetic stretching movements of the trunk, upper and lower extremities.
Dystonic spasms
Asymmetrical- and symmetrical-tonic neck reflex
Tonic labyrinth reflex

Patients who use AKTIVLINE care or their parents and therapists confirm the following benefits, among others:

Less tension, pain and skin injuries
No slipping out of the fitting due to movement
Preservation of mobility
Improvement of respiration, circulation and digestion
Extension of active sitting time and better posture
Tactile perceptual information remains constant
Reduced repair and conversion times and costs

In principle, the health insurance funds cover the costs of aids listed in the list of aids of the GKV Spitzenverband (Central Interest Group of the Statutory Health and Long-Term Care Insurance Funds in Germany) if they are indicated.

AKTIVLINE fittings are currently in the registration process for entry in the register of medical aids. This does not preclude the assumption of costs. If indicated, we have had good to very good experience with many of the leading health insurance companies. There may be statutory co-payments that you will have to pay yourself.

If you have any questions about this, we will be happy to advise you in a personal meeting.

Yes, AKTIVLINE restorations are also suitable for adults. The maximum load or the maximum back height of the respective series must be observed.

The AKTIVLINE Standard, for example, is suitable for a maximum load of 80 kg and a back height of 65 cm.

There are almost no limits in the field of custom-made products.

For detailed information, please refer to the technical data of the individual series.

Yes. The AKTIVLINE E-Mobile supply consists of a dynamic and individually adapted seat shell, which is mounted on a standard electric wheelchair with front or center wheel drive.
